5. Click on the 'Next' button in the Extend Volume wizard.
6. Type how many MBs you want to add to the partition, and click on Next.

The process takes a few seconds but Disk Management shows no progress bar. Once the process is done, it will show you the new size of the partition and any unallocated space, if present.

Note: If for some reason, you are unable to extend your partition or if Disk Management gives you an error, you can try the following. Open System Protection and disable it temporarily for the partition which you wish to extend. Shadow copies, Restore Points and such system data sometimes prevent Windows from changing the partition. The maximum number of reclaimable bytes might be higher once system protection is disabled for the partition. You can re-enable System Protection once you have extended the partition.

3. Note the drive letter and type the next command:

   Replace the 'drive_letter' portion with the actual value to see the minimum and maximum size for this partition (SizeMin and SizeMax).

4. The next command will shrink or extend your partitions:

   Supply the correct drive letter and its new size in bytes. The value should be between SizeMin and SizeMax values you've got from the previous step. This way, you can shrink or expand the partition.

Hello, I am creating this question because everytime I try to find help for this issue, I just find solutions to different problems, leading me to believe that I have an oddly specific issue.

I am trying to extend a primary partition. I dual boot ubuntu and windows 10, and I only use ubuntu for work. I don't have a lot of hardrive space, so I figured the 10GB I gave ubuntu would be fine, and I could always give it more later. Well, the time came for me to extend ubuntu's partition, but I found myself unable to.

At first I discovered that you cannot extend partitions to the left. So I downloaded MiniTool Partition Wizard, and tried to use that to extend it to the left. For some reason, MiniTool allowed me to move the partition, such that the unallocated space is now to the right of the partition I want to expand (see picture), but did not allow me to extend it. Windows Disk Manager still doesn't let me do it either.

I cannot boot from a disk or USB right now, and the only solutions I can find say 'boot from USB' or 'Install MiniTool'.
